With the recent rain, the calls for mold inspections have gone through the roof.  At SERVPRO of Greater Waco we offer a complimentary microbial growth inspection.  So, what is that?

• We start by checking the conditions of the home to see if they are conducive to microbial growth. Things like temperature, recent water damage and humidity are primary indicators.
• We check any places that moisture could accumulate visually and with a moisture meter. Places like under your sinks, cracks in the walls near the exterior etc.
• We check with you to see what may have led you to believe mold could be present in the home, which helps us narrow down possible causes and where it could be coming from.

Things to keep in mind about mold:

• It’s everywhere. There are always mold spores in the air that float in and out of the home. The EPA doesn’t currently have a list for an acceptable amount of mold spores.  What this means for you, is if an atmospheric test is done then you may get back a long list of mold types but it doesn’t mean they are concentrated enough to cause harm, just that they were present at the time of testing.
• Mold testing can cost anywhere from $750-1500.
• Mold remediation doesn’t remove 100% of mold spores because they are a naturally occurring.
• Mold spores only form actual mold when they land on something moist. So, by keeping your home dry, you can keep your home safe.
